The days are getting longer for our pilots and crew as we prepare for an exciting week of racing. The festivities started yesterday with a T-6 formation flight over the other Reno aviation event, the Great Reno Balloon Races. After that, it was back to the pits for Class Compliance Inspection, with crew members working feverishly to ensure that the planes were ready to fly the course. All their hard work paid off, with every plane in the T-6 class certified by Monday morning!
Today marks the first day of qualifying flights, with racers vying for the coveted pole position. The faster the time, the better the position. Times and speeds will be posted here throughout the qualifying rounds, so be sure to check back often!
Of course, the most important part of race preparations is making sure the pilots and crew are well taken care of – thankfully we have our Secretary spoiling us with the best Clubhouse on the field! Pilots, crew and any member of the T-6 Racing Association can access it, and it provides a welcome relief from the desert heat as well as a perfect staging ground for the mandatory morning pilot briefing. Check out the photo gallery for more pictures from the Clubhouse.
This week is off to a great start and the momentum is set to carry through for the entire time. Be sure to come and join us for what is guaranteed to be an exciting and memorable year at the races!
